Final Drawings

The main Parti of the house is the alternating interior and exterior spaces that run along the central spine of the building.
The complex interior-exterior relationship within the house creates other contrast with in the house, the main ones being the contrast of freedom but control, openness but enclosure and simplicity but complexity. The supporting parti diagrams show this, the first shows how the simple circulation is also complex, it provides freedom for the user to chose from many paths but it is still controlling in that eventually you will end up on the main central path. The second diagram shows the massing and program of the building, how the interior-exterior relationship is used to create public, semi-public and private spaces through the building. The third diagram shows the funnel effect of circulation through the building, showing how the alternating interior and exterior spaces can create feelings of freedom and control through expanding and contracting spaces. The fourth diagram shows the structure of the building as well as the visibility from Bawa's office and the freedom and control this would give him in using the building
The plan poches show the central spine through the building the way that light through spine would keep people moving through it. It also shows the subtle transition between interio and exterior spaces and the way in which the courtyards are open spaces but they still free enclosed due to the surrounding walls and the trees.
The section poche shows the central spine of the building, how it would feel moving through the spine with the changing light and enclosure.
The short section poches show what it would be like looking from the central courtyard to the third building, again the idea of enclosure even though it is an open courtyard. The second section shows the view from Bawa's office out to the back courtyard, this courtyard in particular emphasis' the idea of enclosure but openness as it is a very open space in plan but due to the trees and boundary wall it actually feels very enclosed.
